Planting for this year's program will kick off in Dawesville in the coming months.
EARLIER
Street trees and green verges provide shade, cool our city, make our neighbourhoods more beautiful, contribute to better health for our community and provide food and homes for our native wildlife. The Street Tree Masterplan is an outline of the important role trees play in enhancing our verges and road reserves.
In 2026, the City of Mandurah's Street Tree Masterplan planting will provide canopy cover and shade to targeted areas across Dawesville:
Five native tree species were available to eligible Dawesville residents as part of the 2026 program. These included:
- Coastal Blackbutt (Euacalyptus todtiana)
- Muchea Red (Corymbia ficifolia)
- Redheart Moit (Eucalyptus decipiens)
- Weeping Bottlebrush ‘Dawson River Weeper’ (Callistemon viminalis)
- Weeping Peppermint (Agonis flexuosa)
Our team identified these tree species as the most ideal for the area based on their suitability for verge sizes, local utilities, environmental and biosecurity conditions, and community preferences.
The Street Tree Masterplan Planting Program is administered by the City of Mandurah. Growing canopy coverage is part of the City’s Environmental Strategy 2023 – 2033. It is also listed as a measure of success in the City’s Strategic Community Plan 2020 – 2040.
Submissions are now closed. Planting will be carried out during winter 2026.
If you have any questions, contact the City at operationsadmin@mandurah.wa.gov.au or call (08) 9550 3777.
Thank you for supporting a healthy and diverse environment in Mandurah.
