Stage 2 works to kick off in coming weeks

Upgrades to the South East Dawesville Foreshore will ramp up in the coming weeks, with Stage 2 works set to kick off in January 2025.
Stage 2 will include the installation of a large playground area, car parking bays, shelters and seating, and a basketball court. The upgrades will transform the area bordered by Thisbe Drive and Estuary Road into a vibrant space for locals to enjoy.
Guided by the City of Mandurah’s South East Dawesville Foreshore masterplan, the second stage of the works are expected to be finished by June 2025.
The full scope of Stage 2 works includes:
- Large playground area
- Turfed recreation and picnic spaces
- Revegetation and weed management
- Retaining and protecting the area’s existing trees
- Improved path connections
- Shelters, tables and seating
- Half-court for basketball and netball
- An additional car park, including ACROD bays
- Designated locations for food vans
- Bird nesting boxes in mature trees
The playground space has been designed to blend into the natural environment, reflecting the area’s coastal and bushland setting It supports one of the community’s priorities of celebrating and protecting our environment, and ensuring we are built in nature, not on nature.
Play equipment will include timber climbing structures, a large bird’s nest swing, and natural components like rocks, logs and grass.
The upgrades will also improve accessibility in the area, with rubber soft fall path connections, ACROD parking bays, and designated food van spaces included in the design.
Through the South East Dawesville Foreshore upgrades, the City of Mandurah is providing enhanced infrastructure and recreation to our southern communities, making it easier for people to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
