Project update: March 2025

The transformation of the South East Dawesville Foreshore is underway, with construction for stage 2 of the project having kicked off in recent weeks.

Preliminary earthworks have now been completed, with current works focusing on the construction of a new car park and paths.

The existing car park will be closed to facilitate these works, and will re-open once the project is completed towards the end of June. Verge parking will still be available for those who need to access the area, with the existing barbecue, picnic and beach areas all remaining accessible to the public during the works.

Other key works being carried out over the coming weeks include service connections to the site and concrete paths to be poured later this month.

The full scope of Stage 2 works includes:

  • Construction of a large fenced playground area
  • Turfed recreation and picnic spaces
  • Revegetation and native planting
  • Retaining existing trees and planting new trees
  • Improved path connections
  • Shelters, tables and seating
  • Half-court for basketball and netball
  • An additional car park, including ACROD bays
  • Designated locations for food vans
  • Nesting boxes in mature trees

The play equipment has been designed to compliment the area’s natural environment, and will include timber climbing structures, a large bird’s nest swing, and natural components like rocks, logs, and grass.

Existing tuart and sheoak trees will be protected during the works, with a further 66 native trees and more than 4000 native plants to be planted in the area.

The upgrades will also improve accessibility in the area, with rubber soft fall path connections, ACROD parking bays, and designated food van spaces included in the design.
