Why is Mandurah Terrace being resurfaced?

The City of Mandurah is undertaking resurfacing works on Mandurah Terrace as part of its ongoing road maintenance and renewal program.

The works will help extend the life of the road and reduce the need for larger repairs in the future.

Where will the works take place?

Resurfacing will take place along sections of Mandurah Terrace between the bridge and the roundabout on Peel Street.

The works will be completed in stages. Traffic management and detour signs will be in place to guide drivers safely around each work area.

When will the works take place?

Works are scheduled from Monday 9 November to Thursday 26 November 2026.

Most works will take place overnight, between 6.30pm and 5.30am, Sunday to Thursday, to reduce disruption to businesses, visitors and road users. Mandurah Terrace will reopen each morning once the night’s work is complete.

Why are the works taking place at night?

Mandurah Terrace is one of Mandurah’s busiest roads and provides access to local businesses, visitor destinations and the city centre.

Completing the works overnight will reduce disruption to daytime traffic, businesses, public transport and people visiting the area.

The road will reopen each morning once the night’s work is complete.

Why are the works scheduled for November?

The resurfacing needs dry weather. November generally provides better weather conditions and still allows the City to avoid the busy summer period and major events.

Will the road be closed during works?

Yes. Temporary road closures will be needed within the areas where work is taking place.

Detour signs and traffic management will be in place to help drivers get around safely.

Access arrangements may change as the works move along Mandurah Terrace, so please allow extra travel time and follow the signs and directions provided.

    Will businesses remain open?

Yes. Businesses along Mandurah Terrace will remain open throughout the works.

How will customers access local businesses?

Pedestrian access to businesses will be maintained wherever possible.

Some temporary changes to vehicle access may be needed as the works move along Mandurah Terrace. Signs and traffic management will help customers get around, and businesses will be notified in advance of changes that may affect their access.

    Will the works be noisy?

Yes. Road resurfacing requires the use of specialised construction machinery, including asphalt paving and compaction equipment, which can generate noise.

These works may cause temporary disturbance for nearby residents and businesses and appreciates the community's patience while the works are underway.

    Will public transport be affected?

Yes, bus routes through the city centre will change temporarily while works are underway.

Any changes will be communicated by the relevant public transport provider and included in project updates where available.

What are the benefits of resurfacing?

    Once complete, the resurfacing will:

    • Improve road surface quality.
    • Create a smoother driving experience.
    • Enhance safety for road users.
    • Extend the life of the road.
    • Reduce future maintenance requirements.

The project forms part of the City's ongoing investment in maintaining essential infrastructure for the community.

Will parking be affected during the works?

Parking along Mandurah Terrace will remain available as usual during the day. From around 3pm, parking bays will progressively be closed to make sure the area is clear before night works begin.

There will be no parking along Mandurah Terrace during work hours, so please make sure your vehicle is moved before the works start.

Alternative parking is available nearby. View alternative parking options here.
