Between 18 June and 19 July 2026:

  • There were 504 visits to the project webpages
  • 149 people viewed detailed project information
  • 63 people completed the survey

Most participants were local residents or people who regularly use the nearby beach.

How feedback has been considered


Community feedback helped refine the final design. As a result:


  • Preserving or increasing parking capacity
  • Protecting trees and the coastal environment
  • Footpath and pavement repairs
  • Improving pedestrian access and safety with a shared use path
  • Addressing drainage and stormwater issues
  • Supporting safe and practical traffic movement
  • Providing safe bus access
  • Improving nearby facilities (playground, shows, seating, shade)


  • The footpath beside the accessible parking bays has been widened
  • We have maintained as many parking spaces as possible
  • An additional accessible parking bay has been included (four in total)
  • Two motorcycle bays have been included
  • Pedestrian, cyclist, vehicle and bus movements have been reviewed
  • Drainage improvements have been incorporated to reduce water pooling and help protect the beach and dunes


Feedback that was out of scope

While participants also raised nearby facilities such as the playground and showers, these are not included as part of this project, which focuses specifically on renewing the car park.

Following community consultation and technical review, the City has now finalised the design, which you can view here.

Next steps

Construction is scheduled to begin on 18 August 2026 and is expected to be completed by 22 October 2026.


Background

The City of Mandurah is planning to upgrade the northern car park at Doddi's Beach to make it safer, easier to use, and more welcoming for visitors.

The project will improve the condition of the car park, address drainage issues, enhance safety and accessibility, and better protect existing trees.

We’d like to hear your thoughts on the proposed upgrades before final decisions are made, so your feedback can help shape the final design.



Why the upgrade?

The current car park has several issues, including:

  • Damaged and worn surfaces

  • Water pooling caused by drainage problems

  • Parking spaces that don’t work well with the existing trees

  • Areas that could be safer and easier to use

  • Limited accessible parking


By upgrading the car park, we aim to:

  • Improve safety for all users

  • Make parking more efficient and accessible

  • Reduce flooding and water damage

  • Protect and care for the existing trees and environment

  • Introduce a dedicated bus bay for schools and other groups

What are the changes?

The proposed upgrades include:

  • Footpath and pavement repairs

  • Updated accessible bays and kerb ramp

  • A dedicated bus bay for school and group visits

  • Improved drainage to prevent water pooling

  • Reconfigured parking to better fit around trees

  • Wider areas around trees to help protect them


These changes are designed to balance practical improvements with protecting the natural environment.

We Want Feedback On

We’re inviting feedback on the proposed renewal design, including the bus bay, tree retention and management, and drainage improvements.

We also welcome any concerns or suggestions to help shape the final design.

Feedback on surrounding facilities, such as toilets and park areas, is outside the scope of this project. You can view the full extent of the proposed works here.

    About this survey


    The City of Mandurah is planning to upgrade the northern car park at Doddi's Beach to make it safer, easier to use, and more welcoming for visitors. 

    This project will improve the condition of the car park, fix drainage problems, and improve safety and accessibility. It will also better protect the existing trees in the area. 

    We would like to hear your thoughts on the plan for the upgrades, before final decisions are made, so your feedback can help shape the final design of the car park.
