Why is the City undertaking these works?
Doddi's Beach has been identified as experiencing significant and immediate coastal erosion risk that threatens coastal assets and infrastructure.
What works are being proposed?
The preferred solution includes a new low-profile groyne, extension of the Janis Street groyne, sand nourishment works and a revetment adjacent to the western car park.
What is the project cost?
The project was estimated at approximately $2.6 million.
The City secured $1.5 million from the State Government to assist in delivering important coastal protection works at Doddi’s Beach, which has been identified as facing significant and immediate erosion risk. The City will also contribute about $336,000 in cash and $100,000 in-kind support to deliver the project.
Will beach access be impacted?
Some temporary disruptions may occur during construction. Information will be communicated in advance wherever possible.
Will parking be impacted?
Temporary impacts to the western car park may occur during construction and alternative arrangements will be communicated.
When will the works be carried out?
Works are scheduled to commence in February 2027 and are expected to be complete by June 2027.
