Proposed Local Government Property and Public Places Amendment Local Law 2026

At its meeting of 24 February 2026, Council resolved to adopt the proposed Local Government Property and Public Places Amendment Local Law 2026 for advertising.

The purpose of this local law is to amend provisions within the City of Mandurah Local Government Property and Public Places Local Law relating to regulation of the use of local government property, activities in public places, verge treatments, property numbering, advertising devices, obstructions on or in local government property or public places, trading and alfresco dining.

The effect of this local law is to control the use of local government property and public places and ensure the Local Government Property and Public Places Local Law is as clear and effective as possible; it provides that some activities are permitted only under a permit or under a determination, and that some activities are restricted or prohibited.

Amendments have been proposed to:

  • Make the local law easier to read and understand and help people use City property and public places safely.
  • Remove old or duplicate rules and add clearer definitions.
  • Simplifying permit requirements, while still allowing the City to enforce important standards.
  • Improve public safety and make shared spaces more enjoyable for everyone.

Feedback about the proposed local law may be made in writing to the Chief Executive Officer, City of Mandurah, PO Box 210, Mandurah WA 6210, by email to council@mandurah.wa.gov.au or the survey via www.mandurahmatters.com.au.

Consultation comments will be read and presented to Council.

Submissions are open from 4 March 2026 to 17 April 2026.
