Consultation has concluded
In collaboration with the Department of Transport, the City of Mandurah is currently in the planning phase for a proposed, high-quality coastal shared path along the coast of Falcon between Halls Head and Wannanup.
The proposed path link has been identified in the City’s Cycle Plan as a priority project to improve walkability and cyclability across our city and as an important link around the central and southern areas of Mandurah. These large-scale plans have been previously endorsed by Council.
The intent of the project is to significantly improve safety for both cyclists and pedestrians by removing the conflict points at intersections and driveways that are experienced by path users on the existing concrete footpath on the developed side of the road. The proposed shared path infrastructure also aims to significantly improve path amenity to encourage increased activity and improved community health.
The path will be constructed within the existing road reserve resulting in the narrowing of existing roads adjacent to the coast including Spinaway Parade, Panamuna Drive, and Avalon Parade. The path will follow existing path alignments through reserves to minimise environmental impacts.
Consultation on the concept plans was completed in February 2022. Staff have been reviewing your feedback and creating a new design which reflects the community desires for the area. The updated concept design will be available to view and comment on shortly.
