FAQs
How have the dunes been considered?
To reduce impacts on the dune, the path has been moved away from the dunes and into the road space in some areas. Many parts of the path also travel through degraded parts of the dune.
The dune area will be rehabilitated with native species once the path has been completed.
When will the project been completed?
The project is due to be completed in June 2023. View the key dates to stay up to date with each stage fo the project.
What impact will there be on parking?
To avoid construction on the dune area, some alterations to carparks will be made to allow for the path. This will help more of our community, including walkers, cyclists, and scooter-users, access these much-loved spaces.
At Janis St, bike facilities and the path will replace four car parking bays.
At Blue Bay Beach, 90° parking along the street will be replaced with six parallel parking bays. The existing main carpark will be altered to 30 angle parking spaces.
Parking will still be available along the whole stretch of the path, allowing a mix of users to enjoy this new connection to the coast.
