Stage 3: Boardwalk replacement works
The next stage of Coodanup Foreshore upgrades will kick off in the coming weeks. The works will replace four boardwalks located between Wanjeep Street and Wamba Road and is set to commence on Monday, 9 December.
Access to the trail walk along the foreshore reserve will be limited during the period, with works expected to be complete by late December.
The boardwalk replacements will mark the beginning of Stage 3 works for the City of Mandurah’s Coodanup Foreshore upgrades, which have so far included the installation of new barbecues, picnic shelters, tables, paths and nature play equipment at the foreshore.
Stage 3 works will focus on enhancing connection and useability between the Creery Wetlands and east of Wamba Road. Along with boardwalk replacements, the works will include installation of:
- A formalised car park
- Bench seating and signage
- Shelter and picnic table facilities
- Viewing area with seating
- Bike racks
- Estuary access via a native couch ramp
- Yarning circle
- Limestone walking trail
Following completion of the boardwalk replacements in December, landscaping and civil works for Stage 3 of the project are scheduled to commence in March 2025, with completion expected by July 2025.
Stage 3 works have been shaped by community feedback received during a public consultation period in early 2024. During the period, the community highlighted the need to retain the foreshore’s existing character, and expressed a strong desire to protect the area’s natural assets.
Following community feedback, Stage 3 will deliver low native planting to protect the area’s natural spring, and will retain existing footpaths while renewing seating and picnic settings to improve accessibility in the area.
